Hi Families! We look forward to seeing you all on Monday, August 14th for Back to School Night! We will meet outside on the black top at 5:30pm!
Math stores will be up and running all next week! Below are the selling times. If you are able to stop over and support us at any point, that would be great!
12:45-1:15 Tues. and Thurs.
2:30-3:00 Mon., Wed., and Thurs.
After school Tues. and Wed.
Also, students can definitely bring in a few dollars from home to purchase items from other stores. Most merchandise is under $5.00.
Please e-mail back if you child has permission to sell after school on Tues. or Wed. This means that they would not be able to take the bus home.
Quick reminders of upcoming dates:
Hi Families! As a reminder, we need your child to bring their camping gear into school so that Ms. Yonkus and I can check that they have everything on the packing list. This is our policy so that we can ensure that every student has what they need and doesn’t end up cold or wet due to weather. With our camping trip on Monday, it is imperative that students bring in their gear either tomorrow or Friday. This helps us also make sure that if we need to give your child any gear that we are able to properly account for that. If your child is staying home or at school you may disregard this email. If your child is coming for the day and getting picked up between 7:30-8pm by yourself please make sure their bag is packed with layers and is weather ready. With late afternoon storms there is a chance our kids will need all of their materials!
Hello families! As we move into the last few weeks of the school year please remember that there is still a lot of hard work to be done. We would appreciate if you could reinforce that hard work is the focus, even while we are going on fun adventures and celebrating!
Community Day is coming up quickly on Sat, April 22nd! Here is the sign-up for 3rd grade slots! Please take a look at the link and sign-up for a 30 minute time slot.
For the 3rd year in a row, 3rd grade will be leading the Light It Up Blue round-up on April 28th. Plan to be at school from 12:15-12:40 next Friday to support nuerodiversity and our 3rd graders!
We have started to collect things for our Math stores unit. Some things that would be great to collect at home and send to school are bottle caps, short pencils, or anything else that can be turned into a crafting project at school. Some students might want to make some projects at home- that is fine with me as long as they are using recycled materials! More information on this to come later!
Lastly, our camping trip dates have been confirmed for 5.15-5.16. We will be sending home a packing list later this week and then the permission slip in a few weeks.
Thanks! As always, email if you have any questions or concerns.

PARCC TESTING AT DGS 3RD-8TH GRADE
Please help your students do their best! Three steps can help ensure students are mentally and physically prepared for testing: A good night sleep, a healthy breakfast and on-time arrival to school. Thank You for your support during this time. Please ensure to let the office know if you have planned absences that cannot be changed. Remember to bring your headphones!
Testing days: April 10th-April 20th
PARENT PERCEPTION SURVEY
Each household should have recieved the annual parent perception survey. Please, be sure to fill the survey out, and return it back to school with your student as soon as possible. This survey is extremely important to us as a school, because we value your feedback on how we can improve. The more surveys we get returned the better we will do on our district report card. The class with the most surveys returned will earn a pizza party, and dance party with Mr. Coyne. Thank you so much for taking the time to fill it out this important survey.
KINDERGARTEN NEEDS YOUR HELP
Kindergarten will be building insect houses on Community Day for the garden and farm. They are in need of some supplies. Kindergarten is looking for pallets, bricks (broken is fine!), cinder blocks, terra cotta pots (broken is fine!), pieces of wood from a variety of trees, reeds/bamboo, and outside tiles. If you have any supplies that kindergarten can use to build our insect houses, please drop them off in Mrs. Wagner's room 107.

We also partner with other local farms and food producers to bring you as much local food as we can (see all the options below). Signup on our website here and let Farmer Meg know if you have questions!
I hope everyone had a great break and welcome back to Spring in 3rd grade! We have a lot coming up!
This week we have homework! A lot of students were without it today, so please be diligent this week. Then the next two weeks we will not have homework due to PARCC testing!
Students can start bringing in headphones for for the PARCC testing now. So earlier rather than later is better!
PARCC testing will start next week Monday. I would suggest starting to get on a good schedule of sleeping and eating a good breakfast now. I've found over the past few years that these are the biggest things to take care of during the PARCC testing to keep students happy and showing what they know!
Also, camping forms went home this Monday. Please fill these out and turn them in ASAP. The top Green form is due next Wednesday, April 14th.
Lastly, parent surveys went home with some students tonight. Please fill these out and turn them in as well! We love parent feedback.
