PARAEDUCATOR AND INTERN APPRECIATION DAY
When: April 5th
DGS is incredibly lucky to have 17 amazing Paraeducators and Interns who work hard for our students every day. ECE, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade classrooms have a paraeducator in each classroom. Our 2nd grade classes share an intern for the whole grade. In addition, we have six paraeducators who support our autism programs and three paraeducators who support students who receive supports in English language learning, special education, and reading intervention. This group of people exemplify dedication to student growth and performance and we want you to help us in thanking them on Thursday, April 5th. We've set aside this day as an official day to say thank you for all of their wonderful work with our students. If your child has a paraeducator or intern in his or her class, please reach out to say thank you or work with your teacher to show your appreciation. It goes a long way!
UPCOMING CMAS TESTING
We will begin the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessments on Monday, April 9th 2018 through Wednesday, April 16th 2018 for all 3rd-8th grade students. We want to help parents and families with information to support student success during this time.
Families can best support their kids by ensuring students have a good nights sleep, feeding them a healthy breakfast (at home or at school) and by arriving to school on time. Students should arrive to school by 7:45 if they are eating breakfast in the cafe or by 7:55 if they have eaten at home. You can read more here regarding attendance, the testing calendar, volunteers, and make-up testing.
Thank you for your support in this effort!

HELP OUR ECE FRIENDS
ECE is looking for 3 child size bike helmets. If your child has grown out of a helmet we would love to take it off your hands! We hope to practice proper bike safety when we are riding our bikes on the playground.

Veggie/herb/flower shares are $450 (payment plans available), and we offer fruit, egg, meat, mushroom, and tea shares through local partners. Check out all the info on Sprout City Farms' website and get in touch with Farmer Meg if you'd like to know more! 2017 Wrap-up:
Thanks to all who came out to visit, help in the field, shop at the Farm Stand, and/or attend a workshop or event last year! In our 7th season, we produced 7,000 pounds of fresh food for the School Cafeteria, CSA program, Farm Stand, and Donation programs, hosted nearly all DGS grade levels/classes multiple times in the spring and fall, hosted over 200 volunteers, and all in all reached over 1,500 families! We appreciate the support of the Denver Green School community and look forward to seeing everyone again outside starting in April (Community Day will be our first volunteer day!). Until then, we'll be working with the PTA/PASS on forming a Wellness Committee to support food/nutrition initiatives of the farm and garden--stay tuned!
