HOLIDAYS AT DGS
At DGS, we have over 27 countries represented and students and cultures from all over the world. We are extremely proud of our diversity and do our best to celebrate this diversity throughout the year. We are often how we celebrate holidays like Halloween and Valentine's Day and the reality is that we don't celebrate these holidays. It's a way for us to respect all the cultural differences we all have at DGS. It also gives us the opportunity to do things the "DGS Way." Instead of it being about candy and cards that might make some students feel left out, we try to turn these festive times into inclusive celebrations--like Harvest Fest and Friendship Week and Pajama Parties. We hope you can understand how we have chosen to celebrate these events throughout the year and ask you respect the decision by not bringing in candy/cupcakes or costumes.
WHAT WOULD BOND PASSING MEAN TO DGS? (From your Lead Partners)
Did you know that CO is #43 in the country for the amount of money we spend per student for school funding?? We know that CO is an amazing place and Denver is one of the fastest (and best) growing cities in the country but we can't settle for being #43!! We can do more. And while we can't fix the statewide problem in one fell swoop, we can work to help solve the problem here in Denver for our students. If you look on the DPS bond site you will find this info on how the bond would impact DGS. FYI, it says something similar for most smaller schools, but the point is that the bond and mill levy would lead to teacher pay raises, money to our facility and more money for student learning. It would impact all of our schools in a positive way.
All for about $10.00 a month for the average homeowner. If you ask us, it's a GREAT DEAL for our students!!
DPS DISMISSEL CAMPS
DPS is offering dismissal camps for non-school days on October 27th, 28th and November 4th. Parents can register at the following links:
